This project is my second attempt using a wire coat hanger to make a swag style wreath. The first time I  showed how to make a Fall swag wreath. After finishing this swag I realized that it would also make a great centerpiece.

Supplies:

Chenille Stems

10″ Deco Mesh

5″ Deco Mesh (2 Colors)

Scraps of Wired Ribbon

A Wire Coat Hanger

Deco Mesh Tubing

Begin by stretching a wire coat hanger into this shape. Next attach a chenille stem at the top of the hanger below the hook. Twist three times in the center to secure.

This time I’ll be showing you the ruffle method. Projects work up fast using this method. Using 10″ deco mesh unroll about 18″ of mesh from the roll making 8 pleats gathering down the center of the mesh. Cut it from the roll making the first ruffle. Pinch the middle and secure it with the chenille stem and fluff it.

Attach 5 more chenille stems evenly on the hanger. Then make five more ruffles and attach them. Fluff them to fill any gaps. There are just six ruffles on this swag and it’s already looking pretty full.

Next using 5″ deco mesh unroll enough mesh to allow it to curl in on itself. Cut the tube it forms from the roll. Make 6 tubes of each color.

Take one roll of each color and unroll it. Pinch each one in the center and stack them in an X shape. Pinch and attach the two pieces to each chenille stem securing by twisting stems twice.

Next cut six 8″ lengths of various wire edged ribbon. V cut the ends of each piece and attach each one by pinching the center and twisting each chenille stem around each piece twice to secure.

Finally use the deco mesh tubing make a simple bow secure it in the center with a chenille stem twisting twice to secure continue with the length of tubing to the next chenille stem. Repeat until each tie has a bow. Trim and tuck excess behind wreath.

Finish by trimming chenille stems and tucking ends toward the back of the wreath. You may also trim any loose fibers. You may also choose to personalize your design with a large bow and or small seasonal sign. As I mentioned before I think it would make a great Easter centerpiece too.
